Alicia Ghione, the prosecutor in charge of the Sexual Crimes Department of the 6th Shift, announced in the last few hours her intention to request the formalization of the investigation against the former senator of the National Party, Gustavo Penadés, and the former professor of the Military High School, Sebastián Mauvezín, both named in a case that involves allegations of sexual abuse and exploitation of minors. Several people claim that, as minors, they had sexual encounters with Penadés that were allegedly facilitated through Mauvezín.

According to the newspaper The countryciting sources from within the Prosecutor’s Office, prosecutor Ghione, along with her deputy prosecutors, María José Brisco and Patricia Bentancor, will request that the former senator be formally charged with more than a dozen charges related to the promise of retribution or retribution to minors in exchange for performing acts of an erotic nature.

The hearing to discuss this case is scheduled for next October 10 and will take place before the judge of the 36th Shift, Marcela Vargas, as confirmed by Javier Benech, director of Communication of the Prosecutor’s Office.

The Prosecutor’s Office has been accumulating evidence over several days, including statements from the victims and a witness, as well as documentary material that includes recordings and expert reports. The reason behind this accumulation of evidence is the anticipation that Penadés’ defense could appeal the request for formalization.

Therefore, it is expected that the Scientific police soon conclude the analysis of the contents of Penadés and Mauvezín’s cell phones to solidly support the request for a formalization hearing before Judge Vargas.

The case against Penadés and Mauvezín began because the PN activist, Romina Celeste Papasso Oliver, said on social networks months ago that she had had a sexual encounter with the former legislator, when she was still a minor and had not made the gender transition. From there, a large number of men joined in and provided their testimonies as alleged victims.
