Three prominent members of the guerrilla of the National Liberation Army (ELN) were sent to prison to comply with a security measure, as allegedly responsible for the attack with explosives on a Police station in Bucaramanga, in July of this year.

“The Attorney General’s Office managed to capture and prosecute three notable members of the self-proclaimed National Urban War Front of the ELN, who participated in the terrorist act on July 5, in Bucaramanga (Santander), which left 14 police officers injured. and considerable material damage,” the accusing body detailed in a statement.

According to what was revealed by the Prosecutor’s Office, 200 grams of pentolite were used for the attack to blow up an official motorcycle and, in this way, threaten the integrity of the police officers.

Those captured were accused of preparing the explosive, moving it, installing it and detonating it, according to the evidence that the Prosecutor’s Office has collected in the investigation process.

The evidence collected by the prosecution indicates that these people apparently transported the explosives to a wooded area and there they camouflaged it in a cart. In fact, during the trial hearings, the Prosecutor’s Office revealed videos that show how the attack was planned.

“They took it (the explosive material) to the northern police station, where they located it among the uniformed motorcycles and activated it remotely at 1:55 pm,” the Prosecutor’s Office said.

The alleged guerrillas were captured in operations by the Prosecutor’s Office in the cities of Bucaramanga (Santander) and Cúcuta (Norte de Santander).

During the raids, two computers, cell phones, documents and $2,800,000 in cash were seized. The detainees will now have to answer for the crimes of aggravated terrorism and rebellion. The defendants did not accept the charges.
