The Attorney General’s Office will also investigate the possible involvement of congressmen in corruption.

The Attorney General’s Office has requested hearings for charges and measures of deprivation of liberty against Olmedo de Jesús López Martínezformer director of the National Unit for Disaster Risk Management (UNGRD); Sneyder Augusto Pinilla Álvarez, former deputy director of the same entity; and the contractor Luis Eduardo López Rosero. This action comes after the evaluation of evidence obtained in various activities and investigative proceedings that revealed irregularities in the UNGRD contracting.

The investigation, led by the Ninth Delegate Prosecutor’s Office before the Supreme Court of Justice, suggests that those involved are linked to illegal acts in multiple contractual processes, including the purchase of tanker trucks to ensure the supply of drinking water in La Guajira.

In addition, the Prosecutor’s Office has sent copies to the Special Investigation Chamber of the Supreme Court of Justice to investigate the possible participation of nine congressmen in the acts of corruption discovered. This decision is based on the evidence and proof collected that points to the possible involvement of these legislators in the events investigated.
