In September Stefan Raab will return to the public with a boxing match. A spectacle that his old employer probably has no interest in.
It’s been almost ten years since Stefan Raab said goodbye to his “TV total” audience with tears in his eyes. Since then, the presenter has been retired from TV and has only been active behind the scenes.
But over Easter the 57-year-old returned with two Instagram videos – and had an announcement with him: On September 14th he will once again face the fists of former boxing world champion Regina Halmich. Where will the duel be seen? ProSiebenSat.1 has a clear answer to this question.
Channel group excludes broadcast
The digital general meeting of ProSiebenSat.1 Media SE will take place on Tuesday, April 30th. The future of the media company will be discussed at the event. Shareholders also have the opportunity to ask questions.
A few hours ago, according to the industry magazine “dwdl.de”, Stefan Raab’s comeback was also discussed. Accordingly, CEO Bert Habets is said to have made it clear that the ProSiebenSat.1 broadcasting group will not broadcast the boxing match between Stefan Raab and Regina Halmich on September 14th. He did not provide further information about the decision.
Stefan Raab is said to have a completely different plan for his return anyway. As “Bild” reported a few weeks ago, the presenter is working on his own streaming service. The offer is aimed at cell phone users and focuses on entertainment topics. Accordingly, the content should be produced explicitly in the 9:16 cell phone portrait format – and not in the 16:9 landscape format typical for television. September 14th was planned to start broadcasting – the day on which Stefan Raab will get into the boxing ring against Regina Halmich.
Elton’s “Beat the Star” exit was also discussed
At the digital general meeting of ProSiebenSat.1 Media SE, the much-discussed separation from presenter Elton was also discussed. Bert Habets emphasized that, in terms of brand building and brand maintenance, it is important that the program is determined by the station’s own faces who are representative of the ProSiebenSat.1 cosmos.
Elton recently appeared in front of the camera not only for ARD and ZDF, but also for RTL. A development that could no longer be reconciled with ProSiebenSat.1’s brand understanding. In addition, Habets emphasized that the presenter never had a contract with ProSieben, but always with the commissioned production companies – in the case of “Schlag den Star” with Brainpool.
