This very common disease can now be treated with embolization, an innovative technique that consists of depriving the prostate of blood to make it shrink.
This is a problem that affects half of men over 60: with age, the prostate naturally begins to grow. This disease, called “benign prostatic hyperplasia” or “prostatic adenoma”, is manifested by a very frequent, sudden and irrepressible need to urinate, especially at night. The disease can also cause difficulty in urinating (reduced jet strength, feeling of incomplete emptying, late drops). It is most often treated with medication or surgery. But in recent years, new techniques, less invasive and quick to quickly solve the problem, have emerged. Among them, the embolization of the prostatic arteries is still only timidly used.
