BOLZANO. L’Family agency met i childcare providers to discuss with some experts there protection of minors and launch specialized projects that include prevention and protection measures, developed through a participatory approach. The provincial councilor, Rosemary Pamer, underlined the importance of “good collaboration between all those involved in early childhood services – i.e. institutions, parents, staff – in order to protect children from all forms of violence”. The psychotherapist Giuliana Beghini Franchini described the historical evolution of child protection, recalling how until the 19th century children were often victims of violence, but with the birth of nursery schools, awareness of their protection grew. Antonella Fava, of the Bolzano Juvenile Court, illustrated legal measures for the protection of children, including a 2019 memorandum of understanding that establishes guidelines for educational and social reporting when the well-being of minors is at risk. Further contributions came from Paola Santoro of the Assb and from Verena Buratti of the Family Agency, which respectively dealt with the role of social services and the state of monitoring in the quality of child care, underlining the importance of the scientific support of the Faculty of Education Sciences of Bolzano. The teacher Ulrike Loch underlined the need for child protection projects that “strengthen children’s participation and safety, promoting transparent interaction between all stakeholders, ensuring parents that childcare services are safe environments”.
