Protest by Tamil Nadu BJP: Demanding Rs 1,000 per Month for Every Head of Family

Chennai: The Tamil Nadu Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has announced that they will be organizing a protest in the villages of Villupuram Perungottam starting from the 18th of this month. The demonstration aims to demand a monthly allowance of Rs 1,000 for all heads of families.

Tamil Nadu BJP President Annamalai expressed his disappointment with the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) party, stating that most of the promises made in their manifesto remain unfulfilled even after two and a half years in power.

Annamalai specifically highlighted the DMK’s promise to provide a monthly entitlement of Rs 1,000 per month to the head of each family. However, this promise has been only partially implemented and has caused confusion among the people, leading to anger and disappointment.

According to the BJP President, the scheme was intended to benefit all 2.20 crore cardholders, but the promise was not fulfilled. Additionally, the government imposed peculiar conditions for eligibility, such as restricting households’ electricity consumption to under 300 units. As a result, out of the 1.63 crore applications received, only 1.06 crore were accepted, leaving 57 lakh applications dismissed, particularly affecting women.

To address these grievances, the Tamil Nadu BJP has planned several protests to put pressure on the state government. These protests, led by in-charge Vinoj Selvam, will take place in the districts under Villupuram Perungottam. Demonstrations will be organized in each town starting from the 18th of this month.

The statement released by the party emphasized the importance of the government fulfilling its promise to provide Rs 1,000 per month to every head of the family. The protests aim to highlight the people’s demand for this entitlement and urge the Tamil Nadu government to take immediate action.

The Tamil Nadu BJP hopes that through these protests and demonstrations, they can bring attention to the issues faced by the people and push the government to rectify the situation accordingly.
