In the heat, dozens of settlements in our country fell into the trap of waterlessness. Unfortunately, in recent days their number has been increasing. The lack of water this morning led the residents of the Rhodope village of Pavelsko to protest. They threatened with a live chain to block traffic on the main road Asenovgrad – Smolyan on August 25.

“I’m on vacation in the area. I sought an answer from the head of plumbing. I understood that the water pipe is broken, but it is not known when the problem will be solved,” explained one of the protesters to NOVA.

“The situation has been like this for nearly 15 years. The water main was built in 1974. It cannot withstand the pressure that enters the water system. There is flow, there is no water transmission network,” commented Atanas Semerdzhiev.

The mayor of the village clarified that the municipality stands behind the protesters. In a statement to NOVA, the municipality of Chepelare announced that they have an approved and prepared project for the construction of a new main water pipeline. It is worth 7 and a half million. The project has been approved by MRBB, but is still awaiting funding.
