Four demonstrators were arrested this evening (Thursday) during a protest in front of the Russian embassy on Hayarkon Street in Tel Aviv, after spray-painting graffiti on the embassy fence.
The police said that “the Israel Police will allow freedom of expression and protest, but will not allow a violation of law and public order.”
The demonstrators protested against the Russian offensive against Ukraine, and carried signs that read “No to War” in Hebrew, English, Russian and Ukrainian. Other signs attacked the Russian president, stating, among other things, that “Putin is the new Hitler,” “a murderous Russia,” and “shame on Russia.” Many of the protesters carried Ukrainian flags and called for “the liberation of the democratic Ukraine.”
Simultaneously with the demonstration in Israel, many protests were also recorded in Russia against the war in which the administration began in Moscow. More than 1,000 protesters were arrested in dozens of cities in the country, including by the main demonstration held in Pushkin Square in Moscow.
