The French President, Emanuel Macron, has been interrupted this Tuesday by several activists who have denounced pension reform and climate inaction during a speech given by the president in The Hague, in the Netherlands, on the future of Europe.
“You have millions of people on the street (…) How can you talk about Europa?”, Several protesters have snapped at him at the beginning of his speech from the stands, where they have hung a banner with the message ‘president of violence and hypocrisy’.
Before being expelled from the room by security personnel, hThey have charged the French president with phrases in English such as “where is French democracy” or “the climate convention is not respected”, as reported by TF1 Info.
Macron started this Tuesday a two-day official visit to the Netherlands, the first by a French president in 23 years. The president has been received at the Royal Palace in Amsterdam with honors by King Willem-Alexander and his wife Máxima.
Macron’s agenda includes aa dinner with the kings that will also be attended by the singer Dave, very popular in France, and the director of the Tour de France, Christian Prudhomme, has informed the newspaper ‘Le Parisien’.
The polls reflect a wear on Macron’s public image, that in recent days it has ruled out reversing or even delaying its pension reform, in such a way that it is confident that the pension reform can enter into force this year. The Constitutional Council of France is scheduled to rule on this law on April 14.
