In the heat, the problem of waterlessness continues in some parts of the country. Therefore, new roadblocks are expected.

The inhabitants of the distressed Svishtov villages will close the main Pleven – Ruse road near the village of Gorna Studena twice. Blockades are from 10:00 10:30 and from 11:00 to 11:30. The people of Hadjidimitrovo, Gorna Studena, Kozlovets and Morava insist on finding a permanent solution to finally normalize the water supply for them.

The four villages are supplied with water from shaft wells and drying local water sources. Despite the introduced drastic regime, water does not reach people’s taps for days. Supply pipelines have not been completed, the internal water supply network has been compromised with huge losses. Due to the permanent drought, the flow rates of the water sources have drastically decreased.

About 260 cubic meters of water are produced per day, which is grossly insufficient for the population, the Svisht branch of the water supply company explained on August 10, when the only meeting with representatives of the water operator was held in the most affected village of Hadjidimitrovo. Then they promised the people that the distribution taps on the water supply network of the distressed village of Svishtovo would be replaced, as well as that the shafts would be cleaned.

This morning, the deputy manager of Yovkovtsi Waterworks Rosen Trifonov is expected to meet with the protesters in Hadjidimitrovo.

People from Kozlovets, Morava and Gorna Studena are also waiting for decisions, BNR reports.

The protest initiative committee of the four villages announced that they expect representatives of non-channel political parties to come to the roadblocks today, and warn that they will not allow the protest to be politicized.
