Press Institute Bangladesh (PIB) Director (Administration – current duties) Md. The officials and employees who suffered discrimination have demanded the resignation of Zakir Hossain.
On Wednesday (August 14) at noon, they held a protest march at PIB Chattar on Circuit House Road in the capital. The procession proceeded to Habibullah Bahar College and Old Circuit House on Circuit House Road and ended at PIB Square. The protestors shouted various slogans in the procession.
The agitators accepted the resignation letter of the Director General (DG) of PIB and issued a quick notification and Director (Administration) Md. Zakir Hossain demanded immediate removal. They said that as long as Zakir Hossain does not resign, this movement and strike will continue.
It is to be noted that Zafar Wazed expressed his inability to perform the duties of the Director General through a letter to the Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting on Tuesday. In the letter, he wrote, “Due to my family and personal reasons, the Director General, PIB will accept my incapacity to perform the duties from today 13th August.”
