It was decided to go to the Seimas elections on the principle of a joint list, the backbone of which will be the LVŽS, which will supplement its list of members with representatives of several other smaller parties and public figures gathered by I. Vēgėlė.

As the portal already announced lrytas.lt, negotiations took place with the parties “Jaunoji Lietuva” and “Lithuania – all”. Attempts were made to knit them together with the National Union, but everything ended in failure.

I. Vēgėlė for the news portal lrytas.lt indicated that there is already an inclination towards an agreement, but the agreement will still have to be officially confirmed at the LVŽS council meeting in the afternoon, in which I. Vėgėlė himself will also participate.

“There are still a lot of lines to be drawn, there are still some disagreements – you know, every politician is fighting for his place on the list,” he said.

The lawyer emphasized that he himself will not fight for a high place – I. Vēgėlė indicated that he can be 141st on the list.

7 percent applies to the combined list. entry bar to the Seimas, as well as the coalition of parties. The joint list differs from the coalition in that it can be formed on the basis of one party, keeping the name and symbols of that party, simply adding members of other parties to its list.

After meeting on Tuesday, R. Karbauskis and I. Vēgėlė talked for three hours about what to do next. Although they parted in favorable moods, it remained unclear whether I. Vēgėlė would change his mind, because the terms of the agreement were dictated by the chairman of LVŽS, who indicated that at least the first five of the list must be made up of party members.

R. Karbauskis should have received an answer from I. Vēgėlė by Wednesday evening, but the negotiations took some time. The final details of the negotiations and the list should be approved on Friday at the LVŽS council meeting.

To the list, according to the portal lrytas.lt sources, persons who do not belong to LVŽS should be included, such as former prosecutor Kęstutis Vagneris, Valdas Vasiliauskas, who was previously elected to the Seimas with the “Drąsa kelios” party, Sigitas Besagirskas, who worked with I. Vēgēle during the presidential election campaign.

“I think there is a high probability that we will be able to reach an agreement. I don’t see why it should fail. In terms of value, we are completely similar, there are no value-programmatic differences. It is necessary to draw up a strategy on how the election campaign will be conducted. Such things, which, it seems, should not be discussed”, – on Wednesday morning to the portal lrytas.lt said R. Karbauskis.

The friendship between I. Vēgėlė and the peasants was established during the presidential elections, when LVŽS decided not to nominate its candidate Aurelijas Veryga and to support the candidacy of one of the poll leaders, I. Vēgėlė. The lawyer came third in the election and did not make it to the coveted second round.

Immediately after the elections, I. Vēgėlė started meeting with R. Karbauskis and making plans for the upcoming Seimas elections. It was said behind the scenes that, in case of success, I. Vēgēle was promised the post of Speaker of the Seimas.

However, as sometimes happens in politics, it was not easy to reach a consensus right away. Portal lrytas.lt according to the sources, R. Karbauskis did not want to allow I. Vēgėle to fill the first ten of the list with people he brought, who do not belong to the party.

In addition, R. Karbauskis was angered by the fact that, despite ongoing negotiations between the peasants and I. Vēgėlė, he secretly continued to meet with other parties and discuss his political perspectives.

I. Vēgėlė claimed that he would participate in the Seimas elections only on a coalition list, because he does not want to be associated with any political force. Behind the scenes, it is considered that the lawyer does not bury the hope of shining in the elections of the head of the country, which will be held in five years, so identifying with a specific party would be useless for him.

Peasants immediately assessed the possibilities of joining coalitions categorically – R. Karbauskis explained that the party will participate in the Seimas elections independently and assured that he would be happy to include I. Vēgėlė’s people whose values correspond to the views of the peasants to the list, regardless of whether he himself will be a candidate.

A compromise was reached after proposing the idea of a joint list. LVŽS is satisfied with this scenario, because there is no need to join any coalitions, change the name, and politicians belonging to the party keep the first places on the list.

Going to the elections in the joint list, I. Vēgėlė can continue to emphasize that he is not connected to any political force, and the leaders of the small parties that have joined together have a more realistic chance of getting into the Seimas.

Seimas elections in Lithuania will be held on October 13 this year.
