This commissioning, carried out on March 4, 2024, represents 48% of a structuring project, whose overall cost amounts to 305 million dirhams (MDH), jointly financed by ONEE (287 MDH), through a loan from the Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau Bank (KFW), and the region of Tangier-Tétouan-Al Hoceima (18 MDH), which also concerns the drinking water supply to 63 douars in the communes of Bab Berred, Bni Salmane, Bni Saleh, Aounnan and Bni Rzine in the province of Chefchaouen, thus benefiting an overall population of more than 44,000 inhabitants, indicates an ONEE press release.
This structuring project, which is part of the Program for the Reduction of Territorial and Social Disparities (PRDTS) and the Development Program for municipalities within the Jebha Circle, includes the construction of 310 km of pipe with a diameter of 60 to 400 mm, the construction and equipment of 5 reservoirs with a total capacity of 2,300 m3 and 9 pumping stations with tarpaulins with a total capacity of 3,500 m3, as well as standpipes and ancillary works.
It should be noted that work on the drinking water distribution network, which will serve the remaining douars, has reached 85% with gradual commissioning planned from summer 2024, specifies the same source.
This large-scale project will contribute to improving the living conditions of the beneficiary populations and to the socio-economic and tourist development of the region.
