Funded by the National Office of Electricity and Drinking Water (ONEE, Water Branch), this project, the work on which was completed last August, is part of the program to reduce territorial and social disparities.
According to data from the provincial management of the sector in Essaouira, this project consists of the construction and equipment of a pumping station, two semi-buried tanks with a capacity of 150 m3, two other semi-buried tanks with a capacity of 100 m3, three recovery stations with a tarpaulin and 94 standpipes, in addition to the laying of pipes (100 km).
In addition to these efforts deployed by ONEE to meet the needs of the populations in this vital area in this part of the national territory, particular interest is given to this question of water supply in a province with a strong rural dominance such as that of Essaouira, particularly within the framework of the National Initiative for Human Development (INDH).
In fact, the Provincial Human Development Committee (CPDH) has made this issue a priority, through the programming of a series of high-impact projects and interventions within the framework of the INDH.
A total of 133 projects were carried out in the province of Essaouira during the period 2019-2022, as part of the program to catch up on deficits in infrastructure and basic social services of phase III of the INDH, for a total investment of 199.3 MDH.
