Accompanied by the governor of the province of Settat, Ibrahim Abouzaid, as well as representatives of the Chamber of Agriculture of the Casablanca-Settat region and local authorities, elected officials and representatives of civil society, the minister visited, in the El Brouj commune, a goat’s milk valorization unit and laid the first stone for the construction of an extension of this unit.
With a total amount of 3.4 million dirhams (MDH), including 1.2 MDH allocated to the extension project, this unit is part of the development program for animal production chains, part of the project intensification of goat farming and valorization of goat’s milk.
150 women breeders benefit from this installation, while the project to extend the unit will increase processing capacity to include other municipalities in the province.
Subsequently, in the rural commune of Oulad Amer, El Brouj circle, Mr. Sadiki supervised the delivery of a borehole equipped with solar pumping, with water trough and standpipe and a towed cistern for the benefit of breeders for watering livestock.
This drilling is part of 12 others carried out as part of the program to open up agricultural operations, from which 11 rural municipalities benefited, for a total amount of around 6 million dirhams. On this occasion, a transfer contract was signed between the Provincial Directorate of Agriculture (DPA) of Settat and the Al Wahda association for human development.
At the same time, Mr. Sadiki officially launched the distribution operation of subsidized barley (Fifth tranche), with a total quantity of 233,000 quintals, for the benefit of breeders in the province of Settat, from Sidi Hajjaj relay center. An operation which is part of support for the protection of livestock in drought conditions.
At the level of the Mniaa rural commune, Mr. Sadiki took note of the progress of the development work on the 11.7 km double-layer rural road, as part of the program to open up agricultural operations at the level from the province of Settat.
With an investment of MAD 11.4 million and benefiting 27 douars, this project involves carrying out the earthworks necessary for the development of the track and its structures, the installation of the roadway structure, the construction sanitation works and the opening of ditches.
As part of the same program, Mr. Sadiki launched work to develop a two-layer rural track in the rural commune of Sidi Abdelkrim, northern Ben Ahmed circle, mobilizing an investment of 15 million dirhams.
According to the data communicated, these two projects will allow the opening up of 43 douars, or 26,000 beneficiaries of the rural population, and will facilitate access to 15 primary schools, 5 middle schools, 34 mosques, 6 health centers and 7 collection centers of milk. Also, these infrastructures must ensure the connection with other provincial and regional roads.
In a statement to MAP on this occasion, Mr. Sadiki indicated that this field visit is part of the implementation of the “Green Generation” Strategy launched by His Majesty King Mohammed VI in 2020, highlighting lays the foundations of a new agricultural strategy in Morocco and establishes the foundations of the Kingdom’s food sovereignty.
This visit is also part, specified the Minister, in the context of the implementation of the Provincial Agricultural Development Plan of Settat comprising several axes: The opening up of agricultural operations through the launch of a program for the creation of rural roads, the strengthening and creation of water supply points for watering livestock, the valorization of agricultural products and the strengthening of agricultural production chains.
In this context, he continued, other projects relating to the olive sector were launched as well as future projects concerning the marketing aspect and including important markets at the level of different communities. territorial.
“The envelope devoted to the Settat Agricultural Plan over ten years is two billion dirhams (billion dirhams), including 1 billion dirhams of State investment,” said the Minister, noting that the major problem facing the region is facing is that of drought, since, he noted, of the 465,000 hectares of agricultural land, only 16,000 hectares are irrigated, hence the need to work on the generalization of supplementary irrigation in the region.
It should be noted that on the sidelines of this visit, partnership agreements were signed between the Provincial Directorate of Agriculture of Settat and four municipalities within the province (Bougargouh, Ouled M’hamed, Toualet and Sidi Dahbi) concerning the development of rural roads.
