Proximity rail services that will be free in 2023 for regular travelers

The new rail relations will start between March and April and during this year 2023 they will be free for regular travelers since the same conditions will be applied as to conventional medium-distance services established in article 56 of RD-law 20/2022: subscriptions free with a validity of four months, a deposit of twenty euros per ticket and a minimum use of 16 routes in the period of validity.
Specifically, the services of the five local rail links that, according to the 2023 General State Budget, are subject to Public Service Obligations start on the following dates or, at the latest, in June 2023:

This is a three-year pilot experience, extendable by agreement of the Council of Ministers if sufficient levels of use are met, which seeks to respond to the daily mobility needs of citizens with intermediate frequencies between the Cercanías services and those of Middle distance. After evaluating the particularities of these areas. The Ministry has concluded that this innovative proposal is the most appropriate to improve mobility in the region in a sustainable way from the social, economic and environmental point of view. In addition, it will assume the compensation to Renfe for the deficit in the operation of these services, through the modification of the contract between the General State Administration and the State Mercantile Company Renfe Viajeros, SME, SA that will be carried out before June 30, 2023 .
In Illescas and Fuenlabrada/Humanes, the current Media Distancia services are complemented by two new shuttle trains in each direction on weekdays from Monday to Friday, with origin/destination in Illescas/Fuenlabrada and with a stop in Humanes in both directions, until reaching a total of seven daily circulations per direction. In a first phase, the offer on weekdays will begin with one train in an additional direction. This proximity service will be identified as Illescas-Fuenlabrada-Madrid.
These new shuttle services will communicate at the Fuenlabrada or Humanes station with the Cercanías services to and from Madrid.
In the Murcia-Cartagena relationship, the current Media Distancia services are complemented by four new trains in the Murcia direction and three new trains in the Cartagena direction, reaching a total of ten circulations in each direction on weekdays.
In Palma del Río-Villa del Río, four additional services between Palma del Río and Villa del Río will be added to the current Media Distancia and Metrotren de Córdoba services, through the extension of four trains/way from Villarrubia to Palma del Río and from Alcolea to Villa del Río on weekdays. With these new services, the number of circulations on a weekday between Palma del Rio-Córdoba will be eleven in each direction, while between Córdoba and Villa del Rio, it will be eight in each direction.
In the Málaga-El Chorro-Caminito del Rey connection, the current Media Distancia services are complemented by the extension of two new round-trip services on the C2 Cercanías line on the Álora – El Chorro/Caminito del Rey section, until reaching a total of five circulations in the Málaga-El Chorro direction and 6 in the El Chorro-Málaga direction on a working day.
In Medina del Campo-Valladolid-Palencia, the current Media Distancia services are improved with new trains to reach 18 services in each direction between Valladolid and Medina del Campo, and 15 services in each direction between Valladolid and Palencia. Therefore, the total supply will be 66 circulations:
• Four trains, two going and two coming back, between Valladolid and Palencia
• Two trains, one going and one coming back, between Valladolid and Medina.
• Between Valladolid and Palencia to four of the current
• Between Palencia and Valladolid to two of the current
• Between Valladolid and Medina to one of the current
• Between Medina and Valladolid to one of the current
The multi-trip tickets for the five new local services will be:
to). 10 Regional Bonus (10 Proximity Bonus). For all trains and medium or medium-low recurrence. Valid to make 10 trips in 45 days for a specific origin-destination.
b). Regional Monthly Subscription (Monthly Proximity). For all trains and high or medium-high recurrence. Valid for unlimited compatible trips in a calendar month for a specific origin-destination. Access to the train will be made after formalizing the trip.
