Sony announced three free PlayStation Plus games for November 2026: Dead Island 2, Tomb Raider IV–VI Remastered, and Monster Train 2, available from November 3 to 30.
The Lineup: What’s Included
Sony’s November PlayStation Plus free games include a mix of action, remasters, and a roguelike deck-builder. Dead Island 2, a zombie-slaying RPG, is available on PS4 and PS5, while Tomb Raider IV–VI Remastered offers a nostalgic trip through the series’ earlier adventures. Monster Train 2, a PS5-exclusive roguelite, features five new clans and deck-building mechanics. All three titles will be accessible to Essential, Extra, and Premium subscribers through November 30.
Dead Island 2 is set in a quarantined Los Angeles, where players battle hordes of zombies using a Fully Locational Evisceration System for Humans
(FLESH) that allows for graphic dismemberment. The game, developed by Dambuster Studios, splits the city into distinct areas with side quests, hidden supplies, and combat-focused gameplay. It was originally released in April 2023 and received a Metacritic score of 73/100 (critics) and 7.1/10 (users). Tomb Raider IV–VI Remastered includes the Darkness Trilogy—The Last Revelation, Chronicles, and The Angel of Darkness—with options to toggle between original and remastered graphics. Aspyr’s remasters added modern controls, a photo mode, and over 150 trophies. Monster Train 2, developed by Shiny Shoe, is a deck-building roguelite where players command clans of angels and demons to defeat Titans. It earned a Metacritic score of 87/100 (critics) and 7.8/10 (users).
Fans Criticize Dead Island 2 Discount and Praise Monster Train 2
Fans expressed mixed feelings about the lineup. Some criticized Dead Island 2 for being available at a discounted price ($7 with DLC) during sales, while others praised the inclusion of Monster Train 2, a highly-rated indie. A Push Square poll revealed 34% of respondents found the selection “disappointing,” with many questioning the timing amid the upcoming GTA 6 release.
Adam Michel, Sony Interactive Entertainment’s Senior Director of Content Acquisition and Operations, highlighted the lineup’s balance of AAA games, nostalgic remasters, and indie hits in a PlayStation Blog post. However, some users argued that the selection lacked variety, with GTA 6’s November 19 release overshadowing the free games. Sony’s PS Plus update coincides with Rockstar’s release, highlighting strategic timing in the gaming market.
Release Details and Availability
The games will be available starting November 3, with the previous month’s titles—F1 25, Hunt: Showdown 1896, and Earth Defense Force: World Brothers 2—remaining accessible until November 2. Monster Train 2’s sequel, The Punished, launches November 10, adding a new clan and content as noted by KeenGamer. Meanwhile, Sony’s new Prism Collection DualSense controllers, featuring transparent designs, will be available for pre-order on November 10.
The November lineup also coincides with the removal of GTA V and Red Dead Redemption II from the PS Plus catalog on November 17, two days before GTA 6’s release. This shift has raised questions about Sony’s strategy, with some speculating it aims to keep players within the PlayStation ecosystem as reported by Shattered. Shattered.io noted that the list mixes two kinds of exits, referencing the departure of older titles and the arrival of new ones.

Sony also announced a physical copy of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time for the Switch 2, priced at $69.99 (physical) or $59.99 (digital). This contrasts with the PS Plus Essential tier’s $10.99 monthly rate, which equates to about 6.4 months of access for the same price as a single game.
What’s Next for PS Plus
Microsoft’s Xbox Game Pass now offers tiers priced at $9.99 (Essential), $14.99 (Premium), $13.99 (PC Game Pass), and $22.99 (top tier). This puts it in close competition with Sony’s PS Plus, which now matches Microsoft’s pricing for Essential and Premium tiers. PCQuest noted that Microsoft’s ladder now sits close to Sony’s on price, though Sony emphasizes its broader game selection.

Sony’s new Prism Collection DualSense controllers, featuring Graphite Gray, Flare Orange, and Emerald Green color options, will be sold separately from PS5 covers priced at $74.99. The controllers, announced on October 28, 2026, are set for a February 4, 2027 launch, with pre-orders opening November 10. KeenGamer reported that the designs complement the PS5’s industrial aesthetic.
The November lineup also includes the removal of Red Dead Redemption II and GTA V from PS Plus on November 17, a move that aligns with Rockstar’s simultaneous release of GTA 6 on November 19. Shattered.io noted that the timing matters,
as Sony competes for player attention during a month dominated by Rockstar’s title. Despite this, some users argued that the PS Plus lineup carries more weight than a routine monthly drop, per a Push Square report.
