PlayStation has implemented this Wednesday the update of its ‘software’ for PlayStation 5 (PS5) globally, with which it incorporates new features such as Discord voice chat, compatibility with variable refresh rates for a resolution of 1440p and new functions of user experience.

This update of its functionalities includes some features that “players requested” of the console in its suggestions section, as the company has indicated in a statement published on its blog.

One of the features that this update brings is the integration of Discord voice chat and the option to link the accounts of this platform and PlayStation Network. This is possible from the PS5 itself, the PlayStation website or the Discord application, either on the computer or mobile device.

To use this Discord voice option, the account and PlayStation Network must first be linked from the PS5 console, the web or the ‘app’ of the platform on Windows, Mac or a mobile device.

Another new feature allows users to share their screen directly from a friend’s profile. In this sense, you can request to share your screen or start its broadcast instantly. To do this, it is enough for the user to click on the ‘Share screen’ button that appears in the profile of the friend user.

A new ‘Join Game’ icon has also been added to group chats. By enabling this option, users will be able to join party members who are in a certain match directly.

With this new version of the PS5 ‘software’, a new mosaic has been introduced that appears in the game’s start interface. Now, users will be able to see which friends have a certain game and who is currently playing it. Furthermore, if you click on the mosaic, you will be able to access the profiles of the friendly users and start more interaction options.

Likewise, users will be able to manually select the favorite screenshots or videos that have been collected throughout the game and upload them individually to the PlayStation ‘app’, directly from the console. Thus, the option of sharing this content easily on social networks is facilitated.

On the other hand, in terms of game mechanics news, the ‘software’ update for PS5 also includes support for variable refresh rate (TRV) reaching a resolution of 1440p. As a result, users will be able to enjoy smoother visual performance.

In the games library, users will be able to sort and filter the games to find them more easily. The filters will allow you to select, for example, if you are looking for games for the PS VR virtual reality viewer.

In addition, The update also allows you to set and customize preferences for multiplayer gaming sessions. Thus, users can manage options such as who can join or who can invite other players. To do this, you must open the ‘Settings’ section and after clicking ‘Preset game settings’ and ‘Online multiplayer sessions’, choose these preferences.

When moving from PS4 to the PS5 model, PlayStation intends to facilitate the migration of data between one console and another. To do this, you must use a local WiFi network or a LAN cable connection, and you can transfer from games, user settings, screenshots and other saved data. This action can be carried out during the initial configuration of the PS5 or from the Settings menu.

Equally, When a PS4 game is installed on the PS5, a notification will appear advising the user that PS4 save data is available in the PlayStation Network cloud storage. By simply clicking on that notification, the saved data will be downloaded so that you can continue using it on the new console.

The same is true if you install a PS5 game that was also released for the previous model of the console. In case there is saved data from PS4, the same notification will appear to be able to download it.

Finally, another of the improvements has been made to the screen reader, since the latest update of the ‘software’ of the PS provides a more detailed orientation to the user while moving through the console interface.
