PS5 system update finally brings basic 1440p quality

by time news

Any user with a QHD monitor would be happy to hear Sony finally add support for 1440p resolution on the PS5. As promised back in July, the 1440p HDMI display option is now available globally to users.

All you need is a TV or monitor that supports 1440p/60Hz display (120Hz can also be used in some games). After downloading the update, go to Settings > Screen and Video > Video Output > Test 1440p Output To make sure your monitor can handle 1440p resolution.

The new PS5 update also brings with it gamelists, which are simply folders that you can put your games inside to organize them. Sony allows you to create 15 Gamelist folders and it is possible to store 100 games in each, which may be convenient for categorizing games by genre, for example. Go to “Your Collection” then “Create Gamelist” and choose the appropriate name and then start formatting your own library.

Some of the other features in the update include the ability to request a screen share from a teammate, as well as a notification that you can join a game, a new feature to view your friend’s account, the ability to send stickers and voice messages in chat groups, the option to compare 3D and stereo audio on the same screen, and access Easier access to current activities as you complete the game.

Another new feature is the ability to search YouTube using voice commands. Simply say “Hey PlayStation, find [] on YouTube” in any window you want, even while gaming, and the YouTube app will open and perform the appropriate search.
