PSG: “I am not surprised by the character”, Christophe Galtier replies to Julien Fournier

Christophe Galtier was picked up cold, this Thursday shortly after 1 p.m., during the press conference before the reception of Nice, Saturday at the Parc des Princes. The PSG coach was questioned about the comments, the day before on RMC, of Julien Fournier, the former director of football for OGC Nice.

The leader, now sports director in Parma, had been accusatory towards Christophe Galtier whom he rubbed shoulders with last season on the Côte d’Azur, implying that he had been guilty of “serious things”.

“I’m not surprised at the way he expressed himself,” replied Galtier. When you are a PSG coach, there is great exposure. I don’t want to tire myself out debating everything that’s being said. The function creates debates, one after the other. On the form, I am not surprised by the character. »

On Wednesday, Julien Fournier remained vague, refusing to go into details and suggesting that the complicated relationship between the two men was not a simple quarrel of ego. “It’s true that it’s common knowledge that the relationship I could have with Christophe was quite chaotic from the start of the season,” he said. Quite honestly, if I explain the real reasons why we argued, because that’s really the word, Christophe will no longer enter a locker room, neither in France nor in Europe ”. Julien Fournier warned from the outset that he preferred not to say too much.

“But it was not football business that opposed us, he added. These are much more serious things from my point of view. (…) It was indirectly linked to football. These are things that touch me deeply. We had very distant positions. So we did the season and he and I were as professional as possible to limit the negative impact that could have had on the team. Then there was the separation.

Is the fact that a member of Christophe Galtier’s family is an agent the cause of this dispute? “No, answered Julien Fournier. These are serious things, in my opinion, which affect me sincerely and deeply”. Last June, the former director of OGC Nice had already tackled Christophe Galtier. “You never know a person until you’ve worked with them,” he said.
