It took him a while to break the silence. After being dismissed from his position by PSG last July following a rather average season, Christophe Galtier spoke in an interview with Canal Football Club about his year spent in the capital, but also about the affair of the comments alleged racists, in which he is indicted. “It’s very difficult to bear, especially since I think it’s unfair. I suffered the blow, but now I am very combative,” he began.

Indeed, the Galtier affair began last April when an email sent by the former football director of OGC Nice, Julien Fournier, to his management at the end of the 2022 season reported potential racist remarks. from the former Aiglons coach. He notably said at that time that there were “too many black and Muslim players on the team”.

An accusation that Christophe Galtier completely refutes: “It’s false, the players know me, the managers know me. The prosecutor is referring me to court for harassment of certain players and for discrimination against certain players. As a coach I only think about the health of my players and their performance. My players managed Ramadan as they wanted. I don’t accept people saying I’m racist. »

In particular, he will be judged on December 15 for “moral harassment and discrimination based on membership or non-membership, true or supposed, of a specific ethnic group, nation or alleged race or religion.” » He risks up to 3 years in prison and a €45,000 fine.

“I only remember positive things about my time at PSG”

And obviously in this interview, the 57-year-old technician also talked about his year in the capital, paying tribute to his leaders, who supported him during the storm: “Those who comforted me the most during this period were my president, Nasser al-Khelaïfi and Luis Campos. I only remember the good. I have a lot of good memories from my time at PSG. »

He then spoke of his regrets at being fired by the club: “What hurt me the most? When my management decided to replace me. I have a lot of good memories from my time at PSG. I worked with a very good group. At PSG, everything is amplified. A word is a novel, a gesture is a film. I am proud to have participated in this historic 11th title. After coaching PSG, we are no longer the same. » For the moment, the former Nice coach has still not found a bench.
