Ten days before the first Champions League match against Borussia Dortmund, Paris could experience a first hard blow. Touched before half-time during the qualifying match for the Euro between Spain and Georgia (7-1), Marco Asensio had to leave his selection this Sunday.
Victim of a blow to one foot, the former Real Madrid player underwent examinations, the results of which will be sent to PSG to assess the duration of his unavailability. After the match against the Georgians on Friday evening, his coach Luis de la Fuente nevertheless wanted to be reassuring: “Let’s see how it develops, it doesn’t seem to be serious”.
But after discovering the first results, the selection staff finally authorized Marco Asensio to leave the Spanish gathering. He is now expected in Poissy in the coming hours to take additional examinations. A possible withdrawal for the first match of C1 would be bad, while the attacker has shown his advantage since the start of the season (2 goals and 1 assist in 3 matches).
