Waiting and concern continue regarding the state of health of Sergio Rico, hospitalized in Spain in serious condition for almost two weeks. This Monday, news from the Virgen del Rocío University Hospital in Seville showed no improvement in the condition of the young PSG substitute goalkeeper, 29.

“Sergio Rico remains stable despite the seriousness of his injuries, in the intensive care unit of the Virgen del Rocío university hospital in Seville, according to the new medical bulletin published this Monday by the Sevillian hospital where the Parisian is treated.

“He continues under the effects of sedation, with close monitoring and follow-up, being assisted by the intensive medicine team, in consensus with other specialists in a multidisciplinary manner,” the statement added.

A new medical update will be published on Wednesday mid-morning.

While the sedation had been interrupted on Wednesday, suggesting a possible improvement, the young man had been plunged back into an artificial coma on Friday.

Victim of a horse accident, the second Parisian goalkeeper was seriously injured in the head on Sunday May 28, while he was taking part in the pilgrimage organized each year at Pentecost in the Andalusian village of El Rocío.

A mass was given to support him on Wednesday June 7 in the parish of La Madeleine in Paris.

Since the tragedy, messages of sympathy and support have been pouring in from all over the world. On the occasion of the last Ligue 1 meeting, between PSG and Clermont at the Parc des Princes (2-3), Saturday June 3, the supporters sang Rico, while the Parisian players wore a flocked jersey with his name. That evening, Kylian Mbappé held up the Spanish goalkeeper’s orange jersey after scoring.
