It is up to them to have the honor of lowering the curtain. After the tenth title of French champion won by the handball players on Friday evening, the eleventh which will reward Kylian Mbappé and his partners this Saturday in a unique atmosphere at the Parc des Princes, the PSG Titis also have the possibility of ending the season by a champion’s crown. This Sunday, 4 p.m., the troops of Zoumana Camara face FC Nantes in the final of the U19 championship in the small stadium of Aurillac, in front of 2000 spectators. The “most important” match of the young career of Hugo Lamy and his partners, but an appointment to which the captain of PSG, 19, intends to respond in order to win a fifth title in the category after those of 2006, 2010, 2011 and 2016.

In what state of mind do you approach this final of the France U 19 championship?

HUGO LAMY. We are very focused, very excited also to play a match like this because we did not have the opportunity to play many in our formation. We’re all looking forward to it. It’s a very important match, if we had to make a comparison, it’s a bit like a Coupe de France final for the pros. We obviously want to play matches like these, it’s a good match and a big meeting for us.

Does it put you under pressure?

A little bit, of course. It will probably go up a little bit as we get closer to kick-off. But frankly, an appointment like this, we associate it above all with the notion of pleasure. Yes, that’s first of all, fun!

Could Paris have played its final before the hour by beating OM in a crazy match in the half?

No no. A PSG-OM with the pros or with us, it has the same flavor. The rivalry is the same and we all know the expectations of the club and the supporters. We know how much it means to everyone. It was a good poster and we wanted to put on a big performance. But this game is now behind us, we put it in the back of our minds and we are all focused on the final.

What are PSG’s strengths and weaknesses?

We are very united, the group is very close. But it’s not this match that will change our characteristics, that will make us have more strengths or weaknesses. In our career we have always shown solidarity, always been very combative, we have never given up even when we were behind. I have the feeling that a very big collective strength emerges from our team, even in the quarter when we were trailing by two goals, we managed to come back. We rely on real mental strength.

How would you define this group?

It is a talented and united group. It’s our big collective, full of qualities and very homogeneous, which allows us to make the difference in important matches.

What is the part of Zoumana Camara, your coach, in the good course of PSG this season?

It is important, of course. He helps us a lot, with his great career, he is an example for us. We listen to his advice which will undoubtedly allow us to go faster to the top level. It is the same with all players. It is open to discussion as soon as it is requested. I talk to him a lot.

What will your captain’s speech be on Sunday in the locker room?

I’m not sure there’s a need to talk a lot before a match like this. The motivation will be there, everyone, I know, will be 100%. I’m just going to remind you that we won’t have to give up, be united because it’s only together that we will succeed in winning this match.

Who from Nantes and PSG is the favorite for the title?

It’s a final, it’s impossible to pick a favourite. I just know that if both teams are there, they deserve it. I also know that the last time Paris was French champion was in 2016 with the Nkunku generation, Georgen… We want to do like them!

It is possible that you will be reinforced by Warren Zaire-Emery or El Chadaille Bitshiabu who have done the whole season with the pro group. Can this upset the balance of the group?

I don’t know yet if they will “come down” with us. But if so, of course it will be an advantage. They will be armed with a great state of mind, will want to win too, it won’t unbalance anything, on the contrary, it will only give us more strength. They come from up there, with a little more maturity and experience, that can only help us. Anyway, it’s all together, with those who descend from the pros and all the others, that we will win this final.
