jpnn.comJAKARTA – Secretary General of the Indonesian Solidarity Party Raja Juli Antoni emphasized that PSI General Chair Kaesang Pangarep will not run in the 2024 regional elections.
According to Raja Juli, after the Constitutional Court’s decision on case number 70/PUU-XXII/2024, the age requirements for regional head candidates must be calculated at the time of determining the candidate pair.
“Whatever the results of the KPU and DPR RI consultations next week, I can assure you that Kaesang Pangarep will not run in the 2024 Pilkada,” said Raja Juli in his statement, Saturday (24/8).
He said that as a friend who meets Kaesang every day, the son of the President of the Republic of Indonesia is said to be very obedient to the constitution.
“It needs to be reaffirmed that the judicial review to the Supreme Court was not carried out by Mas Kaesang and is not at all related to our General Chair,” he said.
The Deputy Minister of ATR/BPN then explained the internal dynamics of PSI. He said that from the beginning Kaesang was not interested in running in the 2024 Pilkada.
Kaesang is said to prefer to concentrate on business and taking care of his family, especially because his first child will soon be born.
However, after reading the Supreme Court’s decision on the candidate’s age, PSI internally urged Kaesang to take up the constitutional space by getting involved in the 2024 Pilkada contest.
