jpnn.com – PSM Makassar will face Persib Bandung, who has the status of champion of Liga 1 for the 2023/2024 season.
The first match of the 2024 President’s Cup took place at the Si Jalak Harupat Stadium, Soreang, Bandung Regency, Friday (19/7/2024).
PSM coach Bernardo Tavares said his team is still trying to win against Persib.
“We will try not to lose, we have prepared. We will try our best to prepare the team for this season,” Tavares said in a pre-match conference at Si Jalak Harupat Stadium, Thursday (18/7/2024).
“This tournament is good for us, it gives us the opportunity to face good teams, in this case the champions,” he continued.
The Portuguese coach revealed that this season they have made many changes in terms of player composition. He overhauled the squad that last season was ranked 11th in Liga 1.
Meanwhile, the host Persib did not overhaul the players much. They only brought in three new foreign players and released four names.
“We know that if we compare teams, they haven’t made many changes. Unlike us who have made many changes. So, they are the favorites. I can’t say we can’t lose, we will keep trying to win,” he said.
