Kochi ∙ KPCC Working President and Thrikkakkara MLA P.T. Thomas, 71, has died. PT passed away at Vellore Christian Medical College at 10.15 am yesterday. She was being treated for cancer.
The body will be brought to the residence on Ernakulam Palarivattom Pipeline Road at 6.30 am today. Public viewing at 7.30 pm at Ernakulam District Congress Committee Office, 8 am at Ernakulam Town Hall and 1.30 pm to 4 pm at Kakkanad Community Hall. Burial will be at 5.30 pm at Ravipuram Cemetery.
Unexpectedly, P.T. Thomas is leaving. He was diagnosed with the disease two months ago. He was twice elected to the Legislative Assembly from Thodupuzha (1991, 2001), Thrikkakara (2016, 2021) and once to the Lok Sabha from Idukki (2009).
He also served as KSU State President, State General Secretary of KSU and Youth Congress and Idukki DCC President. He was the Editor-in-Chief and MD of Vision, the Congress front page.
His 71st birthday was in a hospital 10 days before his death. Wife: Uma (Aster Med City) Children: Dr. Vishnu (Thodupuzha Al-Azhar Medical College), Vivek (Student, Thrissur Law College). Daughter-in-law: Dr. Bindu Thampan.

Things to do after death A month ago, P.T. Thomas was informed and recorded. The instructions were to donate the eyes, bury the body in the Ravipuram cemetery, bury the ashes in the mother’s grave with salt, do not place flowers or wreaths on the body, and play Vayalar’s song ‘Chandrakalabham Charthiyurangum Theeram’ in a soft voice during the funeral.
