Passenger Rights in Case of Flight Cancellation

PTAC reminds⁢ passengers of their rights in the unfortunate event their flight to a country is cancelled.⁢ In such a case, passengers are entitled to:

A ticket refund: Within seven days of‌ cancellation.

A return flight: To the original point⁣ of ⁣departure or a route ‌change to the destination.

If the passenger chooses to change their route, ⁣the airline must⁤ provide a free⁣ alternative flight‍ to reach‍ their destination as soon as‌ possible. Additionally, if the wait for the alternative flight is⁣ two hours or more,‍ the⁣ airline must provide care for the passenger.

If the departure of the new flight is⁤ at least one day after the cancelled flight,⁤ the airline must offer hotel accommodation and transport to the hotel.

Passengers are also entitled to monetary compensation based on the distance ‍of the ‌flight:

Within 1,500 ⁣kilometers: 250 euros
Within the EU (more than ‌1,500 kilometers): 400 euros
1,500-3,500 kilometers: 600 euros

However, airlines are not obligated ⁤to pay compensation if the⁢ flight ⁤is cancelled due to:

Extraordinary circumstances
Advance notice of cancellation more than two weeks before the ⁢flight
Notice of cancellation‌ less than two weeks ⁢before departure, as long as the proposed alternative ‍flight follows the original route and schedule.

Please ⁣note that no⁤ additional compensation will be paid for flights ‌cancelled ⁣due to security ‍situations, but the ticket price will be ⁣refunded.
