The President of the Republic attended the events of the Municipality of Nisyros for the celebration of the 75th anniversary of the integration of the Dodecanese in Greece.
Katerina Sakellaropoulou, after the eulogy at the Holy Church of Panagia Potamitissa and the laying of a wreath at the Heroes’ Monument, stated that “Amidst the mourning and deep sadness we feel after the recent tragic railway accident, I am here, in Nisyros, to honor together those they fought for the freedom of the Dodecanese and its reunification with the Motherland 75 years ago.”
At the same time, he spoke of “One of the bright milestones in our history, which always reminds us of the importance of national responsibility, unity and like-mindedness in achieving a common, higher purpose”.
Afterwards, the President of the Republic visited the Panagia Kyras Police Station, while after the parade, she had a conversation with students of the local school, who wore black armbands mourning the dead of Tempe.
