Over 50% of the Dutch population is overweight, leading to an increased number of consultations with overweight or obese patients for general practitioners. In order to address this growing issue, a pub quiz is being organized to discuss the causes and consequences of obesity, potential treatment approaches, and the responsibility for addressing this condition.
The quiz will feature two general practitioners, Jacqui van Kemenade and Marlies Osinga, along with practice consultant chronic care, Jim de Vos. The event will be hosted by quizmaster Tom van ‘t Hek.
The speakers will use quiz questions to provide insights into the disease and propose a network approach for treatment. They will also share practical tools based on the new guideline ‘Overweight and obesity in adults’ for managing patients and effective communication techniques in the consulting room.
The pub quiz, titled “the largest obesity connoisseur in the Netherlands,” encourages participation either individually or as a team. The event will take place on Tuesday, October 24, 2023, from 7:30 pm to 9:00 pm.
Individual participants can log in using their MedNet accounts, while those participating as a team need to register and enter their team details. It is important for each team member to log in during the pub quiz using their own MedNet account to receive accreditation points.
Accreditation is pending at ABC1 and NVvPO, making the event an opportunity for general practitioners, resident general practitioners, and practice nurses to earn professional credits.
