You should not establish any contact with the inmates and immediately call 112 or contact the security forces. This is the recommendation of the Public Security Police (PSP), which posted a warning on social media after five men escaped from the Vale de Judeus Prison in Alcoentre.

“We alert the entire population, should you spot the escapees, that you should not establish any contact with them, but rather call 112 immediately or contact the territorially competent security force,” reads the statement.

The PSP further adds that “contact via 112 is the preferred method, with the occurrence being immediately transmitted to the territorially competent force from that operational center.”

It is worth recalling that last Saturday, at 10:00, the Directorate-General for Reintegration and Prison Services (DGRSP) reported that five men escaped from the Vale de Judeus Prison. They include two Portuguese and three foreigners, two of whom were serving maximum sentences.

According to the DGRSP, “the necessary communications were immediately made to the criminal police bodies for the recapture of the escapees”. An internal investigation process has also been opened, overseen by the Audit and Inspection Service, coordinated by the Public Prosecutor’s Office.
