Public brokers align with reform of the Judicial Branch

The president of the National College of Public Brokerage of Mexico (CNCPM), Eduardo Ruiz Orozcosaid that this union will actively participate in the implementation of the new vision of justice proposed by the next federal government.

In meetings held by public notaries with the elected senator and future legal advisor to the Presidency, Ernestina Godoy and the Minister of the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation (SCJN) Lenia Batres Within the dialogues for the reform of the country’s judicial power, the president of the public brokers stressed that they are fully prepared to strengthen dialogue and collaboration with officials of the Federal Government.

He said they share the intention of promoting an agenda of shared prosperity and consolidating in the country an authentic administration of justice with a social perspective.

“These meetings have underlined the importance of collaboration and dialogue between the public brokerage and government authorities. We are convinced that this cooperation will be essential to generate the favourable conditions necessary for the well-being of all citizens,” he said. Ruiz Orozco.

He stressed that the proposed changes are a vital issue for public brokers, since their work is closely linked to the justice administration system and its fundamental objective is to contribute to consolidating a climate of legal security in society and its economic development.

He explained that public brokers are certified notaries and authorized by the authority to act as commercial advisors, commercial public notaries, appraisers, arbitrators, and mediators, which is why they are essential for micro, small and medium-sized businesses, the main engine of the economy.

For its part, Godoy He asked the country’s legal community and professionals involved in this field to collaborate in the construction of a new judicial system for Mexico that is comprehensive and also efficient.

“I call on us, on the one hand, to have the creativity to propose what else we can include to make it a reform as we intend, a reform of great depth. If this comes to fruition, I am sure that we will be an example worldwide.

“Another call is how we have to go about creating these secondary laws so that judges are faster, so that judges have the certainty of being able to apply norms that are not arbitrary, that are not whims. It is truly a call to the legal community to create a new judicial, legal, constitutional and administrative system for these times that we are living in,” he said.

He said that although the discussion of the initiative is focused on the issue of the popular vote, in reality it is much broader because it addresses procedural issues with the aim of speeding up the resolution of cases.

The next legal adviser to the Presidency recalled that the abolition of the Judicial Councils is proposed in order to create a tribunal that can decide on the actions of judges.

Regarding the timing of the election, he said that it is being proposed that the national election of ministers, members of the Disciplinary Court, part of the rest of the judicial officials, and the rest in a midterm election in 2027, could take place next year.

Godoy He indicated that local powers have to carry out the harmonization in their Congresses, and perhaps they would be able to implement part of it in 2025 and the rest in 2027.
