Public Health advises Covid-19 test for flu-like symptoms

by time news

The number of Covid-19 infections has increased slightly in Suriname since the past month. In addition, there are also cases of flu that are common during this period, but the distinction between flu and Covid-19 can only be made through a Covid-19 test.

Flu comes in different variants and with the increase in the number of Covid-19 infections, it is strongly recommended to start swabbing if you have the symptoms and/or signs of flu. Only by testing do you know what it really is.

Symptoms and/or signs:

  • Fever (at least 37.5°C) with no apparent change in focus (or feverish feeling)
  • Cough
  • Loss of taste or smell
  • Body aches or muscle aches with no apparent other cause
  • Diarrhea or vomiting
  • Nausea
  • Fatigue
  • Cold shivers
  • shortness of breath
  • Sore throat
  • Confusion
  • Headache (relatively often retro-orbital)
  • Running nose

A swab test can be taken daily at the swab stations of the BOG and Tropclinic. The BOG swab unit is open 7 days a week from 08:00 – 17:00. Tropclinic is open from Monday to Friday from 08:00 – 14:00.

We must remain vigilant, as the virus still poses a threat to your health. That is why it is important to vaccinate so that the complications of a possible infection are prevented or minimized. You can visit the BOG daily where the Sinopharm vaccine is available. Work is currently underway to increase vaccination stocks.

The Ministry of Health again draws attention to the MOHANA measures as much as possible: Wear a mouth mask, keep a distance of 1.5 meters and observe hand hygiene.
