Public Safety Minister Tran Alas has warned that the current security law will be a problem for social media abusers.
He said this while addressing a program held today (10.02.2024) in Pananturai.

In this regard, he further said, “They are spreading defamation on social media about us, the government, including the Inspector General of Police.
A person was arrested yesterday by the Criminal Investigation Department. He had 400,000 rupees in his hand.
The said person is defaming us using social media. A politician has paid money to speak like this.

In this case, the suspect went to Colombo by car and was arrested when he converted the dollars into rupees. I will capitalize on that politician’s name in future.
It is because of such problems that we have come up with this present security law.
“This law will be a problem for those who misuse social media,” he warned.
