The “Public Voice” faction will no longer participate in any session of the Yerevan Council of Elders. Vardan Ghukasyan made a statement about this.
“Dear citizens of Yerevan, around 23,000 trust us. I, Vardan Ghukasyans, want to inform about my following political decision. Believe me, I made every effort to ease the worries of the people of Yerevan as much as possible.
Taking into account the created situation, the agenda of the KP plus extraordinary session on February 7, I came to an inevitable decision. Now I consider Avinyan and his CP team to be an urgent problem in Yerevan. Therefore, according to my decision, the “Public Voice” faction will no longer participate in any meeting of the Council of Elders. New elections of the Council of Elders should be held in Yerevan. My decision is political, has a multi-step calculation and is unchangeable. If the other opposition forces also decide not to attend the council meetings, early elections will be inevitable.
I will inform you about the remaining steps at the right time,” the statement said.
