The first two matches against France in Mendoza and Vélez are behind us, and now Los Pumas will play the third and final match of the International Window of July against Uruguay. The match will be played this Saturday 20th at the Domingo Burgueño Miguel stadium (Maldonado Campus) from 4:00 p.m. So far, Felipe Contepomi’s team has one defeat and one victory in the competition: 13-28 against France in Mendoza and 33-25 in the return match in Vélez.
Matches between Los Pumas and Los Teros began in 1951 with the creation of the South American Championship and their last test match took place in 2006. There, the match was a qualifier for the 2007 World Cup and Los Pumas beat Los Teros 26-0 at the CASI.
At the Maldonado Campus, the Argentines and Uruguayans faced each other twice, but not against Los Pumas but against Argentina XV. The first encounter was on February 17, 2018, for the Americas Rugby Championship, and Argentina XV beat Los Teros by 34-17 (Felipe Contepomi was the coach at the time); while the second encounter was on February 20, 2016, also for the Americas Rugby Championship, and Argentina XV won by 24-21, with Rosario native Pablo Bouza as coach.
