Punjab police behave like terrorists, stand firm in tweet against Kejriwal; Tajinder Bagga

New Delhi: BJP leader Tajinder Bagga has told Asianet News that he was treated like a terrorist by the Punjab police. Bagga said in a tweet against Kejriwal that he was arrested illegally. Meanwhile, the Punjab and Haryana High Court has adjourned the case related to the arrest of Tajinder Bagga to May.

Tajjinder Bagga was produced at the residence of the Delhi Police Magistrate around midnight yesterday following the issuance of a search warrant. He was later brought home. Tajinder Bagga told Asianet News that Kejriwal would not be intimidated by the case and that his arrest was illegal. The Punjab police treated him like a terrorist. The warrant was not even shown. Stands firm in the tweet. Tajinder Bagga said.

The case was adjourned after the Punjab and Haryana High Court heard the case today. The case is being re-assigned to another judge this month. The Delhi Police and Haryana have filed affidavits in the court at the request of the court. The BJP will move to raise the bar of arrest of Tajinder Bagga against the Aam Aadmi Party government in the run-up to the corporation elections in Delhi. The party is also planning a protest by BJP Sikh leaders in front of Kejriwal’s residence.

New Delhi: Punjab police have arrested Delhi BJP leader Tajinder Bagga for allegedly threatening Arvind Kejriwal on Twitter. Punjab police said they had issued several notices to Bugga and informed him that he would be arrested if he repeatedly violated the order. The Punjab police said that they had filmed the arrest of Bagga and expressed their displeasure over the action of the Delhi police in releasing the accused from custody.

Meanwhile, the Punjab and Haryana High Court will reconsider the arrest of Tajinder Bagga today. Haryana Police and Delhi Police will file affidavits in court today. Tajinder Bagga was taken home by the Delhi Police after being granted bail overnight by a Gurugram magistrate court. He will appear in court on Monday. The lawyer alleged that Tajinder Bagga was injured during the arrest. After returning home, Tajinder Bagga said that Kejriwal could not be intimidated by the case.

Dramatic events unfolded after the Punjab police arrested the BJP leader. Tajinder Pal Singh Bagga, who was arrested by the Punjab Police, has been released from the custody of the Delhi Police. Haryana police arrested the accused and handed him over to Tajindar Pal Singh Bagga, who was being flown to Punjab.

Tajinder Bagga was arrested from his home by more than 10 Punjab police officers in the morning. Kejriwal was arrested on a charge of hate, religious hatred and intimidation following a tweet that he would not be released. However, Tajinder Bagga’s father later complained that his son had been abducted. The Delhi Police registered a case in this regard. Things did not end there.

On his way to Mohali, Haryana police dramatically stopped the Punjab police from reaching Kurukshetra. The Haryana police did not heed the Punjab police’s claim that the arrest was a legal one and not a kidnapping. A police team from Delhi reached Kurukshetra around noon and released the BJP leader from custody. Tajjinder Bagga accompanied the Delhi Police to victory.

The Delhi Police has alleged that the Punjab police took Tajjinder Bagga away without following due process. However, Punjab police said that the arrest was made in compliance with the rules and that the officers reached the Janakpuri station in Delhi and informed about the arrest. Meanwhile, the Punjab Police approached the High Court against taking Bagga to Delhi, but it was not stopped.
