BOLZANO. Work has begun on making the Val Badia state road safe near Puntac (Municipality of Badia). The road is being improved and made safer for a stretch of approximately 600 metres.
Slope stabilization, drainage and a temporary diversion route are currently being implemented in the area of the old cycle path. About half of these works have already been completed. “The works, which are very complex due to the geological situation, are an important step towards making the road connection in Val Badia safe for road users in the long term,” he says. the provincial councilor for mobility, Daniel Alfreider.
The main goal is to increase the stability of the slope. The slope movements have been continuously mapped for years with a monitoring system. “As established in the preparatory geological studies, the material is clayey and particularly susceptible to water infiltration – explains Davide Ziller of the North/East Roads Technical Office – During the works and for their entire duration we are keeping the road open on both lanes: a positive aspect for traffic, but which is limiting mobility within the construction site”.
