“PUPPETS WITH CARE” FOR A WEEKEND AT PARCO XXII APRILE — Modena Municipality Press Office Website

by time news

With two days of shows and workshops for adults and children, on Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th September “Burattini con cura” will be coming to the XXII Aprile park, a free-entry event dedicated to “wooden heads” now in its ninth edition.

Born to remember the puppeteer friend Alessandro Barberini, “Burattini con cura – In baracca con Alex” has the dual objective of entertaining the public and continuing to support the “Puppet therapy” project that takes place in the Spazio Incontro of the Pediatrics and Pediatric Oncohematology department of the Policlinico of Modena.

The review was presented this morning, Thursday 5 September, at the Palazzo Comunale with a press conference attended by the Councillor for Culture of the Municipality of Modena Andrea Bortolamasi and the President of the Burattini della commedia association Elisabetta Della Casa.

“Purattini con cura – Il piccolo teatro che regala grandi sorriso” (Puppets with care – The small theatre that gives big smiles) takes place in the Renzo Piano pavilion and at the Spazio Lodola in the XXII Aprile park. The first appointment is at 5 pm on Saturday 7 September with “Il domatore di foglie” (The leaf tamer), a creative workshop led by Pina Irace, actress and author of children’s books translated all over the world. The workshop, dedicated to the little ones, has dreams as its protagonists, which want to fly just like leaves in autumn and which must be followed. After the workshop, at 6:30 pm, a snack for everyone and at 7 pm the show “Tutti in baracca” (Everyone in the baracca) with the puppeteer from Bologna Mattia Zecchi.

On Sunday 8 September, again starting at 5pm, the programme features Pina Irace’s show “Fiabe in tavola”, a snack for everyone and, finally, at 6:30pm, Moreno Pigoni’s puppet show.

All the proposed activities are free donations to raise funds to support the Puppet Therapy project: since 2019, in fact, the Department of Education and Human Sciences of Unimore and the complex structure of Pediatric Oncohematology of the hospital in via del Pozzo have been involved in the implementation of activities to improve the quality of life of pediatric patients, and respond to their needs and those of their families. The event therefore has, in addition to bringing joy to adults and children, the objective of supporting solidarity projects, promoting the therapeutic value of animated theater and the training of professionals in the medical-health and educational sectors relating to the themes of “Medical humanities” and “Narrative medicine”.

“In baracca con Alex” is a project born in 2016 by the Modena cultural association “I burattini della Commedia” by Moreno Pigoni and Elisabetta Della Casa in collaboration with the Municipality of Modena, the Bolognese of “Fuori porta”, Mattia Zecchi, Riccardo Pazzaglia, the “Maestro” Romano Danielli and the family of Alessandro “Alex” Barberini, his wife Stefania Galliani and his daughters Ilaria and Emma. Together to remember the puppeteer friend Alex, who passed away in 2014, who shared and carried forward the idea of the therapeutic value of the art of telling stories with “the wooden heads”.

The graphic design is curated by Silvia Gatti.

All shows and workshops have free admission (free donation for activities related to the project) with mandatory reservation by email to [email protected], via Whatsapp messaging to the number 347 4910867.
