Mattresses are goods that fall within the scope of deductible medical devices when they have the CE marking and when they respect the technical characteristics identified by the decree of the Ministry of Health 332/1999. In practice, the deduction in healthcare costs is only possible if the mattress is certified as an orthopedic mattress or as an anti-decubitus mattress. In both cases, since it is a certified medical device, a doctor’s prescription is not required but a self-certification certifying the need for which the mattress was purchased is sufficient.
