Dehradun: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Thursday reached Ghutthu-Panja-Devling Tehri under Tehri district and conducted a field inspection of the ongoing relief and rescue operations in the disaster affected area. During this, the Chief Minister met the disaster affected family Durga Devi wife of Vishal Mani in Malethi and assured all possible help.

The Chief Minister said that heavy rainfall and cloudburst have caused a lot of damage in Ghuttu. Many houses and cattle have come under the grip of the disaster. He directed the district administration to provide immediate assistance to the disaster affected, assess the disaster damage in disaster prone areas and immediately start the reconstruction work of the damaged areas. He said that lack of funds will not be allowed to come in the way of reconstruction work. Efforts will be made to compensate for the loss caused by the disaster as soon as possible. On the complaint of the villagers, the Chief Minister directed the District Magistrate to get the damage caused to the houses by Ghuttu Hydro Power re-examined.

There was heavy rainfall on 21st August

District Magistrate Mayur Dixit said that 29 buildings were damaged in Ghutthu area under Tehsil Ghansali due to heavy rain on the night of 21 August, in which 6 buildings were completely damaged and 23 buildings were partially damaged. So far, more than 10 lakhs have been given for about 9 damaged houses. People of about 20 families of partially damaged buildings have been kept in disaster relief camps for their safety, for whom all necessary arrangements are being made. He said that if there is a need for displacement of some villages after the situation becomes normal, then necessary action will be taken as per rules or those who want to go to rented houses will be given rent as per rules.

Many villages were cut off from road connectivity

He said that 17 animals were lost due to the disaster, in which necessary action is being taken as per rules. About 24 drinking water lines have been damaged. Along with this, other assets like electric lines, roads, culverts etc. have suffered a lot of damage. So far, the agricultural damage of 450 families has been assessed. 3-4 villages have lost road connectivity, the process of restoring them is underway.

Damage caused in these villages

The district magistrate said that many villages, including Malethi, Chandla, Gavana Malla, Gavana Talla, Kailbagi, Devlang, Jogiana, Gangeri, Chakragaon, Maletha, Ranidhang, Panja, Mendu Sindhwal, Sankri, Lom, Samangaon, Miswali, Bhatgaon, Ankwan village, Raitgaon, Bhelunta, etc., have suffered a lot due to the disaster.
