Russian President Vladimir Putin will visit the Vostochny cosmodrome in the Amur Region next week, said the press secretary of the head of state Dmitry Peskov on the air of the Russia 1 TV channel.
“On the way from Vladivostok, Putin will again fly into the Amur Region, to the Vostochny cosmodrome. An ambitious project … under the personal control of (the president), ”he said (quoted by Interfax).
On September 3, the president will speak in person at the plenary session of the Eastern Economic Forum (EEF), Peskov said earlier. According to him, the possibility of a meeting of the president with the moderators and speakers of the WEF sessions is being considered, so that they talk about their activities at the forum and Putin, before the “plenary”, will receive a “complete picture of the issues” that were discussed there. In addition, the President will hold a traditional meeting on the socio-economic development of the Far East.
The Eastern Economic Forum will be held from 2 to 4 September in Vladivostok in a hybrid format – high-level guests will be able to participate in the forum’s events both in person and online. Mandatory PCR testing will be carried out for EEF participants. The forum was canceled last year due to the coronavirus pandemic.
In 2016, on Vostochny, the construction of a launch complex for the Soyuz-2 rocket with an area of 45 sq km was completed, and the construction of the second stage is now underway. The last time Putin visited the cosmodrome was in 2019.
