by time news

President Vladimir Putin said Russia is working on its orbital project despite a possible extension of the ISS’s life beyond 2024. According to him, Russian specialists are actively involved in the activities of the existing station, and “extensive research work” is underway in its domestic segment.

Putin added that despite this, one should “look beyond the horizon of the current decade” and take into account both “new challenges in the exploration of deep space” and national plans for the development of infrastructure on Earth.

The head of state recalled that Russian specialists “are working on the idea of creating a Russian service orbital station.”

NASA previously stated that the extension of the ISS service life after 2024 is not excluded.
