The President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, said that he expects the President of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, at the summit of the BRICS organization in Kazan, TASS reported.

In a meeting today with Turkish Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmus, Russian President Vladimir Putin conveyed his best wishes to President Erdogan and said he expects him in the Russian city of Kazan on October 23. Putin announced that a bilateral meeting was planned between the two, in which the chairman of the Federation Council, Valentina Matviyenko, would also participate.

At the beginning of the month, it became clear that Turkey has submitted an official application to join the BRICS group, founded in 2006 by Brazil, Russia, India and China. BRICS expansion is expected to be discussed at the meeting in Kazan next month.

Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed his satisfaction with the visit of Numan Kurtulmus to Russia, as well as with the development of relations between the two countries, TASS informed.

The Russian leader drew attention to the successful development of relations between Moscow and Ankara in the economic and social spheres, as well as in the foreign ministries. “In general, we are neighbors, good neighbors, we work for the good of our peoples, of our countries, and in general we are doing well,” Putin said, as quoted by TASS.

The chairman of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (Parliament) Numan Kurtulmus said at the meeting with Putin that Ankara has never supported sanctions against Russia and believes that it is wrong for Moscow to be punished in this way, reports TASS.

Kurtulmus noted that the two countries view the deep crisis in the Middle East in a similar way.

“Israel’s attack on Palestine is not only a regional problem, a problem of Palestine, but also a problem of the world community. And I am glad that we see this problem in the same way,” said the speaker of the Turkish parliament.

In his words, quoted by the Russian agency, the priorities of Russia and Turkey are very similar.

During his meetings in Russia, the Speaker of the Turkish Parliament discussed the steps that can be taken to develop bilateral relations, writes BTA.

Kurtulmush arrived in Russia on Monday, and today he met with the Speaker of the State Duma (the lower house of parliament) Vyacheslav Volodin and addressed the Federation Council.

The Speaker of the Turkish Parliament expressed hope that the stable relations between Russia and Turkey, which are deepening every day, will only strengthen. Kurtulmus delivered to the President of Russia Vladimir Putin a greeting from the Turkish Head of State Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
