“What was said before publicly through various channels (on sanctions by the American side – approx. “RG“) has just been said, but in a fairly acceptable form, worthy of the presidential level,” said the Kremlin official. One of Biden’s key theses was concern about the movement of Russian troops near the borders of Ukraine, he said that the United States and Western allies are preparing large-scale sanctions that will be used if the situation around Ukraine continues to escalate, he stressed.
When asked in what areas these new sanctions could be, the aide to the Russian president answered: economics, finance, politics. “It’s just not clear why these sanctions should be imposed, and therefore our president said: you are worried about something that we do not understand, and we are worried about something that we understand,” he said.
