Russian President Vladimir Putin has announced plans to attend the opening ceremony of the Beijing Winter Olympics in 2022.
“I was planning to go to the opening,” said Mr Putin at the Russia Calling VTB Capital forum (quoted by RIA Novosti).
Note that at the end of last year, the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) banned Mr. Putin from attending the Olympics for two years, while making an exception – if the invitation comes personally from the head of another country.
