Putin: Russia has a good harvest this year

Russian President Vladimir Putin congratulated all those involved with the Day of Agricultural and Processing Industry Workers, which is celebrated on the second Sunday of October. The head of state said that a good harvest was collected in Russia this year.

“Even in difficult weather conditions this year, a good harvest has been collected. The country’s needs for all major food groups are almost fully met, ”said Mr Putin at a meeting on scientific and technical support for the development of the agro-industrial complex, he was quoted by the Kremlin press service.

The President explained that such high rates are the result of systemic changes in the agro-industrial complex, thanks to which it has become “modern, saturated with advanced technologies and innovations.”

The head of state recalled that five years ago it was decided to launch the Federal Scientific and Technical Program for the Development of Agriculture, aimed at introducing the latest Russian agricultural technologies into the agro-industrial complex. He added that the program should be extended until 2030 and ensure the uninterrupted allocation of funds for the development of new technologies.

In June, Vladimir Putin explained the rise in prices for vegetables in Russia by the fact that the country “did not have enough of its own products.” According to him, last year the country produced potatoes for more than 19 million tons, and this year the harvest will be about 22 million.
