Russia is among the leaders in using the capabilities of the “digital state”. Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke about this during his speech at the plenary session PMEF.

“We are among the world leaders in the use of the “digital state” principle. This is a fact, we need to strengthen our positions and move on,” the president said.

Putin recalled that unmanned trucks had already been launched in Russia, and in Moscow “Yandexis testing an unmanned taxi. “These are good examples, but isolated ones, mass ones are needed,” the president noted. He noted that in the technological environment, Russia still has gaps, but they need to be quickly made up.

“Technological change is happening very quickly, and for development it is not enough to automate individual production processes. We need to act on the scale of entire markets. There are already successful examples of such working platforms: Yandex in the taxi market, and the automatic lending system in Sberbank, and the Ozon e-commerce platform. It is necessary to cover more and more industries and institutions, forming the techno-economy of the future,” the President urged.

Putin recalled that this year, in July, the Forum of Future Technologies is being launched, which will be held annually. The forum will discuss advanced areas of technological development.

Contrasting digital sovereignty with digital dictatorship was the topic of one of the SPIEF panel discussions. It was opened by Alexei Pushkov, Chairman of the Federation Council Commission on Information Policy and Interaction with the Media. The senator began by saying that, in his understanding, digital sovereignty does not mean a system of prohibitions or fencing off from the outside world, since the latter does not give “anything good”, is fraught with “stagnation and regression”.
