Representatives of only 6 EU members – France, Hungary, Slovakia, Greece, Malta and Cyprus – took part in the ceremony. The representative of Belgium changed his plan to participate in the ceremony at the last moment.

Putin became the president of Russia as a result of the elections held in March 2024.

According to the Central Election Commission of Russia, 87.3 percent of voters voted for him.

But according to the calculations of “Golos”, “Vajniye istorii” and “Novaya Gazeta – Europe” websites, it is estimated that 22 million votes were falsified in favor of Putin.

The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe and the European Parliament did not recognize the legitimacy of the election results held in Russia.
